Archiving and long-term preservation policy
- General Provisions
- This Policy defines the principles, procedures, and technical means for archiving, long-term preservation, and ensuring open access to scientific articles published in the Ukrainian Journal of Remote Sensing
- The purpose of archiving is to guarantee continuous, reliable, and long-term access to scientific materials, preserving their integrity, authenticity, and usability in scientific communication.
- This Policy complies with international open access standards, recommendations for the digital preservation of scientific information, and the principles of open science.
- Archiving Principles
The archiving of articles is carried out based on the following principles:- openness and free access;
- long-term preservation;
- data reliability and security;
- ensuring the integrity and immutability of published materials;
- technological compatibility and accessibility of formats.
- Long-term Archiving
- All published articles are subject to mandatory archiving.
- Long-term archiving is ensured by depositing electronic copies of articles in:
- The electronic archive for journals using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
- The V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), where all issues of the journal are archived and stored.
- Technical Means of Preservation
- Long-term preservation is ensured using:
- server storage of electronic files;
- regular data backups;
- duplication of archival data;
- stable digital formats (PDF);
- electronic repository management systems.
- Preservation is carried out using modern data protection technologies.
- Long-term preservation is ensured using:
- Accessibility Guarantees
- The journal ensures perpetual preservation of and open access to its materials.
- Accessibility is guaranteed through:
- data backup;
- monitoring of technological aspects to prevent issues related to format obsolescence or outdated software;
- digital preservation metadata;
- the use of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).
- Ensuring the Integrity of Publications
- After publication, articles are not subject to changes, except for official corrections or retractions
- Authors are permitted to deposit the final accepted version of their article (Author’s Accepted Manuscript) in an open-access institutional or thematic repository.
